Louise & Louise

Just a little photo of me and my mum, from last week after our preview performance of "The Underpants". We start our second weekend tonight, and I am so excited! I love this show, love the character, love the cast.

I've got some very exciting audition opportunities on the horizon but I don't really want to talk about them since they may amount to nothing, and why get all worked up over nothing! If they do come to fruition I am sure you will hear nothing but from me. :-)

Inconceivable.

Hello, guy sitting in front of me on the bus. I know you are listening to your ipod and all, but I have just one question for you.
It's almost 100 degrees out there.
Why. For pete's sweet sake, why? Why are you wearing a ski hat?
Take it off.

Right. Now.
Thank you.

The Underpants

That is the name of my next show! And here is all the info:

"The Underpants" by Steve Martin opens Friday, July 13th at SecondStory Repertory Theatre in Redmond, located at the Redmond Town Center!

Here is a verbatim publicity description that I take no credit for:

"In The Underpants, actor-writer Steve Martin adapted the 1910 social comedy by German playwright Carl Sternheim into a hilarious, over-the-top farce centered on an unruly pair of knickers. Louise is a pretty young housewife in tum of the century Germany, whose frilly pantaloons accidentally fall to her ankles while watching the Kaiser's parade, setting in motion a zany chain of events. A foppish poet and a nebbish barber, both entranced by the brief glimpse of her underwear, vie to become Louise's lover. Her new-found fame terrifies her husband, thrills her neighbor and brings out her own parade of bizarre suitors."

When:
Fridays and Saturdays, July 13th through August 4th. Curtain: 8:15pm
Sunday matinee on July 29th, 2:15pm

Where:
Redmond Town Center. The theatre is on the second level, next to Border's Books.
Lots of dinner and shopping options if you want to make an evening of it!

Tickets:
$24 general admission, $18 students/seniors/educators.

Pay-What-You-Can Preview on Thursday, July 12th (tickets at the door) 8:15pm
2-for-1 Ticket Night on Saturday, July 14th (you must call ahead to reserve, (425) 881-6777)

End shameless plug.

Mrs. Clumsy-Pants McGee

This has been my clumsiest week in quite some time. I have always been clumsy, which is strange considering I was fairly successful in gymnastics and other sports growing up. Perhaps my clumsiness comes from being a bit reckless, which made me a fearless gymnast/sprinter/hurdler, and which makes me unafraid to get back on my bicycle nowadays after having taken a thrilling spill or two.

At any rate, here is a rundown of exactly what I've been doing to myself this week:

Monday AM: At work, ran left shin into step ladder. Bruising in that area coming along nicely.

Monday PM: Random bruising appears on left knee in strange crop-circle-like pattern. Not sure where or when injury took place, but apparently must not have hurt much.

Tuesday AM: Smashed elbow into confidential recycling barrel at work, causing debilitating funny bone tingle.

Tuesday PM: Upon arrival at home via bicycle, could not unclip pedal from left shoe at top of driveway, fell to the ground in cartoonlike manner. Bruised up right thigh and knee, jammed wrist on pavement.

Wednesday: Lovely bike ride with Chad through Discovery Park comes to a crashing halt as I make an abrupt turn, our bikes collide and we fall to the ground in a cartoonlike manner. Many many bruises on left hip and lower leg. Chad gets scratched up palms and a big bruise on his leg.

So today is Thursday. I'm hoping I've filled my quota of clumsiness for the week, and can look forward to an incident free weekend.
