Great Scott!

I recently had the opportunity to travel up to Santa Barbara for the day to help out some friends of friends with a short animated film they are producing. This particular day they were recording some of the dialogue for the film with one of its stars: Christopher Lloyd! Not only that, the reason I was asked to come along was to actually read with Mr. Lloyd while they were recording his lines. Not a bad gig, eh?? I have to admit it was pretty hard not to geek out. :)

While I didn't get any photos of Doc Brown himself (again, trying to exercise some self restraint) I did get some great photos of the recording studio we were using which I think many readers of this blog will appreciate. By the time the day was over I was ready to move in!

 

Not to shabby, eh? I have to admit I came out of that studio inspired in more ways than one...

I honestly think this film is going to be something special, and I was honored to play my tiny little part. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for it! It's called "Cadaver" and they plan to premiere sometime in early 2012.

The Empty Space

Hello! This space has been feeling rather empty, so I think I'll fill it up with something.

We closed our completely sold out run of Pinocchio at Deaf West Theatre, and now I'm in that strange place where I'm glad to have my evenings back but at the same time I miss my dear cast mates and am not quite sure what to do with myself. There's always this worry for me when I close a show that that's the last thing I'll ever do (that is, if I don't have anything else lined up right away, which I don't.) I know it's a baseless claim, but gosh darn it if those feelings aren't there!

But I have had a few auditions lately to keep me busy, and one "almost" casting in a short film. One can only hope those film makers keep to their word and remember me when their next project comes along. In the mean time I've got ASL class twice a week, with plans to continue on this fall to work towards my interpreter's certification. Have I talked about that here? Hmmm... If not: Hey everyone! I've decided to pursue certification as an interpreter for the Deaf!

In awesome news: I got my very first promotion ever in my history of day jobs last week, which was pretty darned exciting. I've been working above my job description for quite some time, and they've finally adjusted my title (and pay!) to match the work I do. It's a huge relief in a lot of ways, and also it feels pretty spiffy that I can now refer to myself as "Assistant Director of Development Research". Look-at-me! I've got a big girl title now!
