Solvang

"Solvang" is a Danish word meaning "sunny fields". It is also the name of the adorably quaint (and decidedly Danish-themed) town where Chad and I spent our 7th anniversary weekend - which is indeed surrounded by sunny fields. We had the most incredible time: wandering through town, wine tasting, dining... AND even a little slot machine and Blackjack action at the local casino! But of course the best part of it all was just getting to spend the weekend with one another, relaxing and exploring a new place together.

The trip was even sweeter since we didn't actually pay anything for it - the contest we won through Southwest Airlines covered our very nice hotel, $ for the slot machines, and dinner out at the casino's fancy-shmancy restaurant (which was far too fancy and shmancy for either of our comfort, but still deliiiiicious.) Actually... with our winnings at the casino we actually came home without having spent a dime out of our own pockets. When does THAT happen??

Here's a little look back at the best weekend I've had in a while. If only we could go back right now...

Happy anniversary, sweetie, I love you!! Where has seven years gone?? :)

Happy anniversary! I remember your sunny wedding, what a fitting celebration. Is solvang drivable from LA? Ive never heard of it, but it looks adorable.

Thanks Jenny! Definitely a fitting, sunny trip! Solvang is about 2 hours drive from LA, a bit north of Santa Barbara and inland 10 miles or so. It is definitely worth a little sidetrip if you ever find yourself down here with some time on your hands. :)
