Wow wow wow. I don't even know where to start! Perhaps if we took vacations more often I would be better at boiling down a trip to the highlights, but since we don't get out much - everything is a highlight. I will do my best.
We begin in Philadelphia, PA! These fine folks, Doc and Jenny Haferbecker, were our most gracious and incredibly hospitable hosts who opened up their beautiful West Philly home to us.

It had been 4 years since we saw these dear friends, and we all remarked how it felt like we hadn't skipped a beat! Anyway, they outright spoiled us with food, drink, conversation, laughter, and sightseeing. It was such a blessing to spend three days with these two, and their incredible little boys, and their hilarious labradoodle. :)

We said our goodbyes to the Haferbeckers and off we went to NYC! Thus commenced five action-packed days that included four Broadway shows, four meals consisting of nothing but pizza, two stops at Magnolia Bakery, countless miles walked, lots of rain, a dash of catching up with friends, four very ouchy feet and two very tired Evanses.
We stayed in
Alphabet City with our very good friend Jeff Snodgrass, who kindly slept on the couch so we could have a bed! What a guy...Honestly, we could not have afforded this trip if he had not offered up his place to us so we are very grateful!

Whew! And that ain't the half of it!! We had such a great time, even with the rain and the constantly ouchy feet and waking up one day with the water shut off (did I not mention that?). I wish I could go back right now and do all the things we didn't get to on our list! Alas, we'll just have to save them for next time. And honestly after busy-bee New York it feels good to be back in laid back L.A., in our own bed, with our own food, and our sweet kitties starved for our attention.

Great trip review and photos! ;) We are looking forward being in NYC as our first stop of our honeymoon in the US at the beginning of Aug. ;))
