We enjoyed some cupcakes with her family in the park outside the museum, and then journeyed inside to take a gander at some pre-historic bones!
"La Brea" means "The tar" in Spanish, so really you could call these "The Tar Tar Pits".
There are no dinosaur fossils at the tar pits, since these bones were actually from 10,000 - 40,000 years ago and the dinosaurs died 65 million years ago. Though, in fact, you could say the tar is the dinosaurs.
Only one human skeleton has ever been found in the tar pits, a woman.
The pits are still an active excavation site!
They have found thousands of turtle shells and bones in the pits , but no turtle skulls...
Fascinating stuff!

would you believe i never went their either?
you know, we did not get one picture of the actual pits! We got a video but it's not very good... I guess we both just thought they were kind of ugly. :)
